Karl Markarian was born in Iran and left as a child. The first lesson came early: nothing is guaranteed.

The family rebuilt in France, living in Paris and Nice until 1987. New language, new rules. Then Toronto, and another restart. That's where real estate found him. Karl learned the business with his hands, working beside his father in luxury home construction. His father had worked overseas from a young age and set a work standard by example, never by lecture. Karl still measures himself and his team against it. Before he ever sold a building, he knew how one was built.

Dubai was the leap. Karl walked into a market he didn't know and built a RE/MAX operation from scratch. It taught him the difference between working hard and building something: systems, people, and standards.

In 2010 he moved to Los Angeles and started at zero again. No network. No listings. A phone and discipline. He built his commercial real estate career the way he built every chapter before it, through prospecting, relationships, negotiation, and consistent execution.

In December 2024 he founded One West Group on a simple idea: align with good people and take it to the top. The firm is headquartered in Los Angeles, with advisors across Southern and Northern California and a growing national presence, all backed by the platform of eXp Commercial. Karl leads the firm's recruiting, training, and coaching, and runs it the way he has run every chapter: show up, do the work, keep your word.
